ABOUT THE PATTERN

Trisha Pitura is a creator, entrepreneurial mother, and co-founder of MINI TIPI. She is from the Sudbury region in Ontario and is a member of the Nipissing First Nation. A few years ago, she began to assert herself more as an Indigenous woman and reconnect with her culture. She now explores her identity as an Ojibwe woman, which she uses as a creative force behind some of MINI TIPI’s textiles.

Indigenous peoples view the number four as sacred. The symbolism of the number four is reflected in ceremonies and in the balance of nature. The four directions east, south, west, and north guide ceremonies. The four seasons and the four aspects of the medicine wheel: spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental, are important and used for healing. We hold our destiny in our hands. We must stay connected to who we are and the world around us. Follow your path.
