Cooking with Black Trumpets
This mushroom perfectly complements creamy sauces, sautéed onions, and goat cheese omelets. It is delicious in soups and with grilled vegetables.
Rehydrate the mushrooms in a liquid (water, broth, milk, wine, etc.) until they are saturated (the time varies depending on whether the liquid is hot or cold), then incorporate them into your recipe. Remember to save the rehydration liquid by carefully filtering it; it’s full of the mushroom’s rich flavor! If your recipe already includes liquid, there’s no need to pre-soak the mushrooms.
Black trumpets can be used whole or crumbled. Note that their conical shape may result in debris accumulation. Even when well-cleaned, ensure the rehydration liquid is filtered before reuse.
