Gerald Le Gal completed a degree in geography at the University of Manitoba. He is a former teacher, economic development officer and commercial fisherman. In 1993, he started up Gourmet Sauvage, a company specializing in the harvest, processing and sale of high-end wild foods. He is a co-founder and former president of a 200-plus member association (www.acchf.ca) in Quebec whose role is to work with harvesters and businesses, communities, research institutions and government ministries to build a strong wild food (NTFP) industry. For two years, Gerald co-hosted a wild food television program with his daughter. Gerald has also written a book on the harvesting and cooking of wild plants (French only for now).
